About the Role
Our client is a growing electrical services firm focused on utility protection and control, relay testing, and field execution. They’re launching a new utility customer in Kentucky and need a senior Lead Relay/P&C Technician who can work on their own in live substations. This is not a developmental role.
What You’ll Do
- Lead testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protection systems in transmission and distribution substations
- Test electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relays
- Verify control schemes and protection logic, and run end-to-end testing
- Serve as the primary technical contact with utility personnel
- Support outage planning and execution
- Document test results and deficiencies accurately
- Mentor assistants or junior techs when paired
What You Bring
- Proven experience as a Lead Relay/P&C Technician
- Strong utility transmission and distribution substation background
- Ability to perform at lead level with minimal supervision
- A safety-first mindset and a professional field presence
- Preferred: LG&E vetted or LG&E project experience; Midwest utility experience (LG&E, Duke, AEP, FirstEnergy); outage leadership
Compensation & Benefits
- $70–$85/hour plus overtime

- Per diem paid 7 days a week: about $910/week (4-day schedule) or $1,155/week (5-day schedule)
