About the Role
Our client is a fast-growing protection and controls firm serving the electric utility industry. Relay and substation protection is the core of their business: commissioning, testing, and energizing stations to utility standards nationwide. They plan to add 50 relay technicians this year at the lead, senior, and junior levels, so there’s real room to move into leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Own delivery on complex substation P&C projects, from planning through energization
- Lead field teams, mentor technicians, and help build training plans
- Sign off on team test results before they go to the client
- Independently test relay protection elements
- Verify CT/PT ratios, phasing, polarity, and single-point grounds
- Build and run relay test routines in Protection Suite, Test Universe, RTS, and similar tools
- Create protection isolation plans and commissioning procedures
- Manage man-hours and forecasts, and build client relationships
What You Bring
- Deep substation protection and controls knowledge with strong hands-on relay testing
- Proven leadership and people management
- Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail
- NETA is not required. Lead-level utility vetting is preferred but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- $90–$110/hour
- 19 on / 10 off rotation
